Its not the biggest problem in the world, but just thought I can't be the first dealing with this issue. While the chipset devices accepted the drivers, the unknown device does not except anything from them. These were not installed by default during win10 install, but I did manage to find drivers for them based on the hardware ID afterwards. It was my understanding that the webcam drivers came in with the chipset drivers.

It sure seems to be a driver issue near as I can tell.Īcer does not make a distinct driver package just for the webcam. I've uninstalled the device a few times and rebooted. The permissions are set in windows to allow the webcam to operate. Note that while I cannot guarantee the hardware is functional, considering the condition of the laptop I suspect that it is fine and simply needs the correct driver. I suspect the unknown usb device is the webcam, but cannot be sure without a hardware id. There is no entry for a webcam, camera or imaging device in the device tree. I suspect these would be additional components for the camera.

There are (2) hidden entries for 'USB Mass Storage Device' and (1) more in 'Other Devices'. I've been able to get the missing drivers from the initial OS install installed except for the integrated webcam.ĭevice manager is now all clear except (1) warning entry for an unknown USB device (device descriptor request failed). I am currently rehabbing an old Acer Aspire 5 (A517-51G-54GK) from scratch on windows 10 pro 64bit.
